Before we start the 1977 list, you should know there were three repeats from 1976. Boston’s self-titled album placed at #36 on the 1977 list, Al Stewart’s Year Of The Cat placed at #29, and Stevie Wonder’s Songs In The Key Of Life placed at #24.
Now let’s talk about the first of the other 37.
If you remember the band Firefall, they released their sophomore album, Luna Sea, in July 1977. The album’s big hit single was called “Just Remember I Love You,” which peaked at #11 on the Hot 100 and at #1 on Easy Listening.
I don’t have much to say about Luna Sea, except that a pun on the word “lunacy” is a weird title to give a yacht rock album. A good yacht rock album, granted, but still a yacht rock album. There is a little bit of variety, though. I liked the cool bluesy jam called “Just Think,” as well as the groovy “Getaway.”
Overall, this album is a pleasant start to the 1977 list.
