The Radio & Records Album Airplay Top 40 of 1977 (#34. Cat Scratch Fever)

I was afraid something like this would happen. I warned before that we would come across musicians who aren’t good people, so let’s address this right off the bat.
It cannot be expressed strongly enough that no matter how many Platinum records he has, Ted Nugent is a disgusting and deplorable human being. He always has been disgusting and deplorable. He will continue to be disgusting and deplorable for the rest of his life. And I hope that when he dies, the world will remember him not for his music, but for being disgusting and deplorable.
I hope I have made that as clear as possible. Now then, I’ll make the rest of this short.
The triple-Platinum album Cat Scratch Fever was released in May 1977. The title track was a top 30 hit on the Hot 100 while the second single, an instrumental called “Home Bound,” was a minor entry. “Home Bound” is perhaps best known for being sampled by the Beastie Boys in 1992, but I digress. Cat Scratch Fever is a fun hard rock album if you can separate the art from the artist. However, I usually don’t, so I wouldn’t recommend listening. Yes, there are good songs like “Live It Up,” which has a Bo Diddley beat that I normally enjoy. But to me, buying or streaming Ted Nugent’s music feels a little like enabling him, and no one should be doing that.
